My Website

Can I change things on the website myself?

Yes! We have developed a powerful yet easy to use interface that we call the Launchweb Control Panel. Using the control panel you can update just about every part of your website. You can even change the entire template while keeping all your content unchanged.

Just some of the things you can edit on the fly are.

* Logo (choose one of ours or upload your own)
* Pictures (choose one of ours or upload your own)
* Templates
* Content (choose one of ours or upload your own)
* Client Documents

... and much more

How long does it take to have my account activated?

Your account will be activated instantly. You can start setting up your web site right away.

When you upgrade your account to include a registered Domain name or one that you are transferring to Launchweb from another hosting service provider may take up to 72 hours (usually much less) to fully register around the Net. This is because of safeguards built in to the Net for your protection. There is no way to speed up this process. But this should not hold you up with the preparation of your web site.

Can i call in a change if i'm not in front of a computer?

Of course. If it's just a small change we are happy to do it for you free of charge.

Will the site be submitted to search engines?

We optimise all our websites and submit to search engines with great success.

Do I need to buy software for my website?

No. The control Panel will take care of everything you need.

Email

Will I get an email address with my website?

Absolutely. As soon as your Domain is registered you can create an email address.

Can I use my existing email account? *

How do I set up my computer to get email? *

I have not received mail from someone, and they assure me that they have sent it

It is impossible for us to trace an incoming email message through the internet. Indeed if you have not received an email, then it is unlikely that the mail has even reached our server, and we have no way of finding out where the mail is. It may be the mail server on the other end is running slowly or they have sent a large file and not all the pieces have come through yet.

Why can't I send emails using your server? (SMTP) ^

If you are using Bigpond, you will not be allowed to use our server to send emails. You can read about this here:

http://bigpond.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/bigpond.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=5562

Many other ISP's are putting this sort of policy into effect. What it generally means is that if you have an account with an ISP you will have to use that ISP's mail server to send. We cannot help you with this, you will need to contact your ISP for these details.

Some of the more common SMTP servers include

ISP :Outgoing Mail Server
AAPT :mail.aapt.net.au
Bigpond :mail.bigpond.com
Dodo :smtp.dodo.com.au
iiNet :mail.m.iinet.net.au
Internode :mail.internode.on.net
iPrimus :smtp.ipimus.com.au
OntheNet :mail.onthenet.com.au
Optusnet :mail.optusnet.com.au
Ozemail :smtp.ozemail.com.au
People Telecom :smtp.syd.people.net.au (NSW)
Three (3G Mobile) :smtp.three.com.au
TPG :mail.tpg.com.au
Unwired :esmtp.unwired.com.au **
Virgin Mobile 3G :mail.optusnet.com.au
Vodafone 3G :smtp.vodafone.net.au

** Unwired accounts require authentication on the outgoing mail server. The username is 'username.unwired' and the password is as provided.

Domain Registration / Hosting

What is a Domain Name?

Your Domain Name or web address signifies your own address on the Internet. It is a unique alphanumeric
name used for identifying and locating websites on the Internet. Domain names may consist of letters
only, or a combination of letters and numbers. Domain Names may also have a - ( dash ) or dashes within
the domain name, but not at the beginning or end of the domain name.
It is now common in Australia for businesses to register both the .com & .com.au ending of their domain name.

As no two parties may ever hold the same Domain Name at the same time, it is a truly unique identifier of
yourself or your business. It is how your customers will remember you and find you among the millions of
other Web sites on the Internet.

Why do I need to register a Domain Name?

You should register a Domain Name for a number of reasons:
They are scarce. Good Internet Domain Names are a rapidly diminishing commodity.
They are allotted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
They are important. The Internet Domain Name has become a vital part of corporate identity.
In the 21st Century, your Domain Name will be as important as your trademark and is your online
identity in the local and global marketplace.
They are versatile. For example, any email addressed to you at ceo@yourcompany.com can be
forwarded to your current email address.
